#122 | Being Alone in Sobriety | Curtis’s Warstory

“Your mind is a dangerous neighborhood. Don’t go in there alone.”
So is it true? Are we never to be alone in sobriety? Must we be babysat like some sort of crazed maniac? Will we ever be okay to be alone?
All of the above. Being alone can be tricky in early sobriety. How do we navigate the early stages of having the drink or drug as a go-to anytime we get a spare second? Here’s a hint: we don’t do it alone.
This week we’re talking about being alone in sobriety, a topic inspired by the warstory from Curtis! If you listen to Curtis’s story you’ll see how we settled on talking about this subject. Curtis spent much of his early days in sobriety trekking along the Pacific Coast Highway solo. He challenged himself everyday and had some serious time to reflect on his addiction. So it begs the question: can we benefit from alone time in sobriety?
